Couples Counseling in Woodland Hills
Come back together, to the relationship you meant to have.
If you are thinking about marriage counseling or counseling for you and your partner, you are already taking a meaningful step. It can feel like acknowledging the need for help means your relationship is in trouble, but couples counseling is one of the healthiest things you can do for your relationship. It means you care enough to do better.
A New Way of Listening, and Actually Hearing
I work with both the Imago method and the Gottman method, two forms of psychodynamic therapy that help develop a new way of listening and actually hearing what your partner is saying. Fighting, screaming, ignoring, shutting down, and defensive behaviors will no longer be the way the two of you operate. A new form of communication filled with respect, understanding, and love is possible for the two of you.
Common Reasons Couples Seek Therapy
Couples come to me for many reasons: a breakdown in communication, loss of intimacy, infidelity, constant conflict, parenting disagreements, or simply feeling like roommates rather than partners. Some couples come to heal a rupture; others come to strengthen an already good relationship. Whatever brought you here, the work is about creating a partnership where both people feel seen, valued, and understood.
What to Expect in Couples Sessions
In our first sessions, I take time to understand your relationship's history, how you met, what drew you together, and where things shifted. From there, we identify patterns and learn new tools for communication. Both partners have a voice, and the space is balanced. Couples sessions are 60 or 90 minutes to ensure everyone is truly heard. Change takes practice, but the tools you gain here can transform the way you relate for years to come.
